From our coverage of the New Designers 2012 event in London a couple of weeks ago, a handful of designers really stood out to us here at MPDClick, starting with Rachel Ward.
The Nottingham Trent University graduate cites natural and organic beauty as a key source of inspiration for design with one particular project, ‘The Good Night Light’ realising this inspiration, catching our eye as well as our inner child. In a collaboration with The Walt Disney Company ( a key indicator of this designers commerciality) the Good Night Light “casts a beautiful woodland silhouette pattern against an auto- fading soft sunset skyline glow to help a soothe a baby to sleep and allows Mum to see in the nursery in the night.”
The detailed wooden carving relates to our trend Fable forecast for spring/summer 11 where narrative design and wondrous nature scenes are recreated in contemporary crafts. The skilled craftsmanship of this design also reflects our S/S 13 Modern Artisan trend which predicts a modern approach to precision design and superior quality.
