In conjunction with the re-release of the classic Disney fairytale Cinderella, top designers have been taking inspiration from classic Princess stories and giving them a couture makeover.
Christian Louboutin has looked into the pages and words of the story to re-design the famous glass slipper. Using the elegance and grace of the character he produced a peep-toe covered in lace and delicate crystals, the main feature of the shoes are the stand out sparkling butterflies which sit on the front of the shoe, and one just on the top of the heel which is also adorned in crystals. And just so we know it’s a Louboutin he has kept his trademark red sole.
This Disney celebration can also be seen in the Harrods London store this coming Christmas, paying tribute through a wonderland of iconic Disney princesses and their dresses created by a host of designers including Valentino, Ellie Saab, Versace and Oscar del a Renta. From Sleeping Beauty to Pocahontas, there will be couture princess dresses gracing the holiday windows for us all to admire. The fairytale continues as Harrods will also dedicate its 4th floor to put on Disney themed events, with pop up boutiques and limited edition pieces. We can’t wait!
With Disney now reinterpreted for adult consumption, MPDClick recognise this as an early indicator for one of our S/S 14 trends where childhood nostalgia and self expression inspires design.
