Retail Preview A/W 12: Roksanda Ilncic

Words by MPDClick’s Trend Journal Editor.

With a luxurious palette of silk, fur and intricate beading detail, the Autumn/Winter offering from Central St Martin’s graduate Roksanda Ilincic is really something special. Womenswear shapes are reworked with a post war silhouette in mind, redefining the shape of women’s leisure wear and adding a luxury element to the collection.

A fine knit vest adds a silk panel to the back, creating an update on the basic sweater vest, Long sleeved styles are presented in both a colour block and an animal print version, the latter adding a clever faux fur textile that creates a snake skin finish. A statement white shirt is nipped and tucked around the waist presenting a fashion forward work wear style that will also easily transfer to casual wear when paired with the season’s denim styles.

The standout piece from the collection has to be the burgundy midi dress, coated in black sequins and finished with statement, capped sleeves. Another clever textile illusion makes the build up of sequins have the appearance of a fur trim. Ilincic’s take on the woven full skirt gives a colour block update keeping it current, but also making it relevant for our Reflective trend which MPDClick have predicted for the A/W 12/13 season.
