This week’s look of the week is straight from Cannes where celebs flocked to show support at the Annual amfAR charity gala. The event raises money for the research and development into finding a cure for AIDs. Although the competition was strong, fashion favourite Milla Jovavich wowed the crowds in her Atelier Versace Spring 2012 gown.
The model turned actress can do no wrong in the fashion stakes and is more than used to working the red carpet, so her latest show-stopper comes as no surprise. The gown, which seems simple and elegant at first glance, boasted a whole host of detail, with a light silver mesh layered up to create a sheer, textured piece. The focus though was on the beautiful waist detail which goes on to add a tough edge, adorned in beading, featuring an armoured style, peplum waist finished with gold metal trim. She accessorised with an oversized barrette in her hair and a sultry smile, perfectly complimenting the statement gown.
The tough but feminine dress is reminiscent of Milla’s character in the ‘Fifth Element’, with its space aged finish and colour palette. The gown itself is a more directional way to tackle the peplum trend and can be recreated with current in-store styles.
