Bridging the gap between fashion and sportswear, classic Japanese sports label Asics follows its predecessor brand Onitsuka Tiger in looking to its vast archive of design to brings its loyal customer base its most comprehensive and varied collection to date.
A sure highlight of the autumn/winter 12/13 collection is the ‘Renshi’ range – meaning ‘trainer’ in Japanese. With clean lines, a mid-top collar and an on-trend outsole construction, the ‘Renshi’ carries a skater undertone with modern flair, making it the perfect fashion-led update to the collection.
Catering to fans of all things retro are the re-issued ‘Gel Lyte III’, featuring the iconic split tongue and 1980’s enthused colourways of classic green and violet blue as well as neon orange with white and black. This is a style we can easily see being picked up by the fashion-forward crowd of Shoreditch, East London.
The ‘Retro Rocket’ range is another highlight; presented as the modern-day take on the classic Japanese PE shoe complete with slim silhouette, canvas/suede contrasts and indoor rubber outsole. For activewear fans, the ‘Sumiyaka’ range offers the classic running shoe; pioneering an old-school aesthetic with unique design features such as a toe overlay and cushion holes for improved flexibility.
