S/S 12 Retail Preview: Sass & Bide

Words by MPDClick’s Trend Journal Editor.

“Dedicated to the strong, the obscure & the beautiful” Australian label Sass & Bide continue to stand-out season after season with their bold designs, feminine silhouettes and on-trend credentials. This spring/summer we see a fusion of tribal prints, water inspired fabrications and staple denim styles for the season.

A tribal embellished and embroidered maxi dress is a key piece of the collection, standing out with bright colour contrasts and a flowing silhouette. Catering to more subtle tastes in tones of white and grey are whimsical floral printed pants and shift dresses, great pieces to style with brighter colours.

The statement skinny jean is a big push in the range, set to be a key seller in a variety of prints and colourways including leopard print, hickory stripes, stud embellished mauve jeans and metallic coatings.

Wetsuit inspired neoprene is used within a highly directional story in classic tones of cobalt blue and black seen on dresses, wrap skirts and asymmetric jacket designs. This significant fabrication reflects MPDClick’s trend predictions for s/s 12 in ‘Water Footprint’ where Indonesian inspired fabrics are juxtaposed with neoprene and high shine latex for an ethnic surf appeal.
