Due to be completed in 2014 in Suffolk, England, Snoasis is set to be Europe’s largest indoor ski slope. The resort will include its own ski village inspired accommodation and are expecting to have 650,000 visitors a year.
It’s not just the UK who are investing in indoor ski resorts with planned developments in Egypt, Stockholm and even Thailand due to be completed in the next 4 years. The increased popularity in indoor ski centres may be due to the ever changing climate and economic downturn resulting in people opting for a city snow break instead of a more traditional winter holiday.
As well as holiday makers being drawn to city snow holidays, indoor ski slopes are also starting to gain recognition from top athletes. In a recent interview with The National Newspaper in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Olympic snowboarder Danny Kass was quoted saying that indoor slopes such as ski Dubai are the perfect training ground for young hopefuls who want to start an international career.
