Design: Torafu Architects + Ichiro

Words by MPDClick’s Home and Interiors Editor.

The koloro-desk by Japanese studio Torafu Architects was designed for plywood manufacturers Ichiro to showcase their polyester-coated plywood.

This doll house-like desk has windows which open for a more accessible feel, while when closed they create a private space where no one can ‘peek’ in and disturb you. Lighting and plants can be added, windows double-up as shelves, and there are hooks for bags and even a PC cord tidy. This versatile desk can be a play area, a study, a hobby space or whatever you want it to be.

The matching koloro-stool also comes complete with storage capacity, designed to complement the desk the stool is shaped like a vaulting horse with a soft cushioned seat. A neat little place to keep toys, paper and other bits and bobs.

These are the first products to be produced for the project “Ichiro iro” launched by Ichiro Inc. in March and were on sale in Japan in June. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
