Coming soon is the annual free Fox Williams Fashion Law Seminar in East London, providing invaluable insight into the business of fashion and more; essential listening for fashion professionals of all levels.
Held on the 10th October at the firm’s offices at Ten Dominion Street, London EC2M 2EE, talks will start at 6.30 pm lasting for one hour followed by drinks and canapés.
The full line up of topics and speakers include:
- “Investing in Brand Businesses” For the investee business – what are the potential benefits apart from the cash? What is the investment process? And what are the pitfalls, and how to avoid them. (Speaker is Tom Rowley who is a corporate law senior associate at Fox Williams).
- “What’s the sweet spot to selling online?” The huge growth in popularity of social media has created new opportunities to engage with customers, develop sales, and add value to brands. However, it has also created new challenges and legal liabilities. What are the legal risks? And what are the best practices to manage these risks and avoid brand damage? (Speaker is Nigel Miller who is an ecommerce law partner at Fox Williams).
- “Fashion brands and why Vivienne Westwood could play for Manchester United.” The importance of recognising the contradictory nature of brands – both as financial instruments and creative, consumer conduits and the particular challenges facing fashion brands. (Speaker is Gareth Coombs, brand consultancy director of the Cambridge Strategy Centre).
- “Exiting key employees”. The do’s and don’ts to minimise payments and damage to your brand. (Speaker is Joanna Chatterton who is an employment law partner at Fox Williams).
The talks will be followed by a Q&A session then wine and canapés where those attending will have an opportunity to network and speak informally with the speakers. Registration starts from 6.00 pm at the event.
