retail: focus on mount street

Mount Street, W1, is the latest area of London to become a fashionista’s dream, with national and international brands clambering to set up shop there.

Mount Street is situated in the heart of London’s fashionable Mayfair, best known for hosting some of London’s finest restaurants including oyster bar Scott’s and Italian Serafino, as well as fine hotels and art galleries, which all contribute to the street’s desirable location.

Luxury retailers have been snapping up stores in this newly established retail hotspot for the past three years, with designer Marc Jacobs being the first and Spanish label Balenciaga and French Christian Louboutin following suit within the last six months. French label Lanvin and German brand Wunderkind are the latest names who have signed up for Mount Street store expansion, with rent somewhat cheaper than the famous Bond Street.

Property development company Grosvenor have developed a leasing strategy within the area which aims to continue developing Mount Street as a prestigious neighbourhood promoting the area as a covetable fashion and cultural hub. With strong developments on the horizon and more super-brands taking an interest, Mpdclick will be keeping a close eye on this newly found hotspot.
